I keep talking about all the things that i want to do with my life, yet i don’t actually do them. I think it’s about time to start acting on what i want. Like, acting. I’ve decided to do a photo shoot on Jan 4 to get me some new head shots so I can start pursuing my acting career. And after that, I think I’ll do some more makeup shoots.

You can only wait around so long before time starts catching up with you. So, here’s a look a some of the things that i’ve done thus far in my makeup career. Makeup and Styling by me, Hair by Brittany Garner (check out her blog http://thepapertigerrr.blogspot.com/)

I’m sitting here, listening to The Two Towers score (my favorite being King of the Golden Hall) and I’m thinking about “Avatar”.

Now, I sincerely hope that most people reading this know what “Avatar” is. And if you don’t, go do your research, and then come back. Or, let me tell you. It’s James Cameron’s new film (term film being used loosely). It’s an action adventure, romance, sci-fi, and just all around an incredible masterpiece. When you go see this, you must see it in 3-D. mainly because thats the whole reason it was made. Cameron spent years trying to figure out how to make this film, and he waited long enough so that technology would be advanced enough to show the world what he had in his head. Now, if that’s not incredible, I don’t know what is. He, along with his studios, invented new film making technology to make this film happen. With the exception of Gollum in The Lord of the Rings (Cameron collaborated with WETA Digital, the effects house founded by Peter Jackson), I’ve never seen such realistic animation. Not only is this film visually beautiful, and groundbreaking, the story is there. You cant make a great movie out of a bad script, but you sure as hell can make a bad movie out of a good script. And this script was beautiful, meaningful, and emotional. Add that to the amazing effects and colors and incredible use of animation, and you’ve got a winner. James Cameron is remarkable, and I really cannot wait to see what happens next, with this type of technology.

I’m sitting here trying to wrap my head around what I saw. I can’t even get my mind right. I don’t think that there is any way I can express in words how much of an impact this movie had on me. I shouldn’t even call it a film, or a movie. It was an experience.

    Friday Night Lights

For those of you who know me, you know that I love everything cinematic. I spend many of my evenings watching movies. I spend much of my time day dreaming about cinematography, story lines, and wondering, if my life were a movie, where would the camera be right now?

Some films and tv shows have a way of making normal life seem beautiful and heartfelt, even through the sadness and irony of the storyline. One of these shows, for example, is Friday Night Lights. Friday Night Lights is the story of a football team in Dillon, Texas. I know that with that synopsis there, it doesn’t seem very interesting at all, but let me tell you how wrong you are! You see, I don’t like football. I think it’s rather stupid. And I very much hate high school. But something about this show, the stories, the characters pulls you in.

The gritty cinematography on top of the haunting music done by Explosions in the Sky is definitely something worth noting on its own. Explosions in the Sky’s music has a way of making you feel. I know how cheesy that sounds, but “Your Hand in Mine” is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.

There are some things in life you just can’t deny. Friday Night Lights + Explosions in the Sky are two things that anyone who loves anything (and yes, i mean anything) should not deny themselves! I’d rather spend my nights with my good friends, Coach Taylor and (the totally dreamy) Tim Riggins.

Befriend these guys, I swear, you’ll love them too.
